Adults with learning disabilities
People with learning disability often have a wide range of health and social care needs. In addition, people with learning disability often have physical or developmental disabilities, mental and physical ill-health and a range of behavioural problems that require services. Across Dorset there are an estimated 17,815 people of all ages with some degree of learning disability. A shift in models of care is likely to result in more individual, outcome-based support and less residential provision.
