NHS Health Check invitation process
NHS Health Checks Cholesterol measurement requirements
From April 2014, the NHS Health Checks specification requires providers to measure the Total Cholesterol/HDL (TC/HDL) ratio in order that patients receive their correct QRISK score.
Providers need to ensure that Total Cholesterol/HDL cassettes are used when measuring cholesterol with point of care testing devices such as the LDx or Cardiochek.
NHS Health Checks training
If your organisation is providing NHS Health Checks under the Public Health Dorset contract for 2017/18, future training dates will be available on this page.
The full day training events are aimed at practitioners currently delivering the NHS Health Check and also those new to delivering NHS Health.
The training, which is provided by CPPE, aims to help the practitioner to acquire the knowledge and understanding, develop the skills and demonstrate the behaviours needed to deliver a high quality NHS Health Check service. Practitioners who have attended NHS Health Check training organised by Public Health Dorset since April 2015 are not required to attend training again during 2017/18. However, experienced practitioners who received local Health Check training prior to April 2015, will need to update their knowledge and skills again.
Please note that training for Point of Care Cholesterol Testing, Blood Pressure measurement and management of the equipment, is not provided as part of the Public Health Dorset training as providers are expected to source this training through their equipment providers.
There are pre-course work and assessments to be completed in advance of the course and this is a pre-requisite for attendance, so allow sufficient time for completion. Practitioners are invited to book on to the training through CPPE. The joining instructions have been emailed to all provider organisations, please refer to your manager.
NB The site will only accept one email associated with one individual, there can’t be multiple bookings. Only the individual attending the course can make the booking, as an email requiring activation is sent to the individual and requires activation within 24 hours. Check your junk mail/release from quarantine, if necessary. Once, having accessed the booking system, you’ll have to scroll down the page to see all the information.
