Free testing for coronavirus (COVID-19) from the NHS has ended for most people in England.
Free testing services have closed at:
- pharmacies
- test sites
- community collection points such as libraries
- schools, nurseries and universities
If you still want to get tested and you're not eligible for a free NHS test, you must pay for a COVID-19 test yourself.
If you think you might have COVID-19 or you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, you should stay at home and avoid contact with other people until you feel better.
Groups eligible for free testing
A small number of groups remain eligible for free COVID-19 testing. This includes people with a health condition which means they are eligible for new COVID-19 treatments and some people who work for the NHS or in social care.
