Summer may be over, but it doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy the places that Dorset has to offer. October half term is the perfect time to get outdoors with the family and enjoy nature, and in Dorset we are lucky to have plenty of places for Autumn walks and family-friendly events that you can enjoy with many of them being free. Wrap up warm and get stuck into what’s on offer for the family this October half term in Dorset!

Halloween is around the corner and in Dorset there are many places that you can go pumpkin picking to get you in the Halloween spirit, including Sopley Farm in Christchurch and The Cat and Fiddle Farm in Hinton.

If you are looking for a free half term activity, why not visit Upton Country Park and take part in the Autumn Colour Scavenger Hunt running from the 21 October – 29 October? If you are looking for something to do outdoors on Halloween Weekend, there is also a Creepy Creatures Halloween Hunt where you and the family can head out to the Country Park to find the pumpkins!

Sherborne Castle and Gardens host their annual Autumn Colours event on 23 October – 24 October. Enjoy a walk around the gardens surrounding the lake and enjoy a hot drink and cake in the tearoom.
