Partners launch the Get Dorset & BCP Working Plan to help local people into work and improve wellbeing
Dorset Council, BCP Council, NHS Dorset, and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have come together to launch the Get Dorset & BCP Working Plan – a joint commitment to help people across the area find good work, develop skills, and improve their health and wellbeing.
The Plan brings together local organisations and services that support residents into work or training, while recognising that good health and wellbeing play a vital part in helping people start, stay, and succeed in employment.
Through shared goals and closer partnership working, the Get Dorset & BCP Working Plan aims to:
- Make it easier to find the right support for work, training, or employment
- Help people with health conditions or barriers to access opportunities
- Enable young people to have skills for work and find jobs
- Build a fairer, healthier and more resilient Dorset
Dorset Council's Cabinet member for economic growth, Cllr Richard Biggs, said: “This is a very important piece of work that will ensure, by working together, we can support residents across Dorset into work or training.
"The plan is about making sure everyone has the chance to thrive — by connecting health, skills, and employment support in a way that works for local people.
"It's one of our key priorities to help grow the local economy and upskilling the local workforce is key to achieving that."
Cllr Millie Earl, leader of BCP Council, said: “By working in partnership with Dorset Council, NHS Dorset, and DWP we’re rethinking how people access employment support across our communities.
“The ambition is bold: delivering better and faster support, bringing more people into good jobs, and enabling residents across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to develop high-demand skills.
“I am delighted to be working alongside our partners, and for the support of Dorset Chamber in helping bring us together, so that we can turn aspiration into action. Collaborative working is at the heart of this plan and will deliver real change and better outcomes that put communities first.”
