At the heart of Dorset’s economic transformation is a commitment to inclusive, meaningful community engagement. We believe that the best ideas come from the ground up. And that every resident, business, and organisation has a role to play in shaping our future.
Through running:
- pop-up events in libraries
- Pathways to Prosperity engagement events
- digital surveys
- school engagement sessions
We’re meeting people where they are, listening, learning and co-creating the future together. We want to shape a Dorset that works for everyone.
These activities will directly inform our regeneration plans but also boost digital skills, creativity, and confidence. Whether it’s through curriculum linked learning, or co-creation events. We want Dorset’s next generation to have a real stake in what comes next.
Minecraft Challenge
As part of this work students across Weymouth, Portland and Chickerell will take part in a Minecraft Design Challenge to ‘Design Their Future’.
The events:
- are running over September and October
- include schools such as Wey Valley, All Saints, and Budmouth
The challenge
Using Minecraft Education to access our ‘Challenge world’ pupils will build their vision of Weymouth, Portland or Chickerell’s future. Thinking about places to hang out, new ways to travel, inventions to tackle climate change. Anything to make their community better.
The challenge engages young people in shaping the future of their local area, by building their vision for the future in Minecraft, whilst also boosting creativity, collaboration, problem solving and digital skills.
