This is an example Budget Simulator for demonstration purposes only. It is being operated by Delib with the consent of Dorset Council. This is an engagement exercise and not a formal consultation.
Our online Budget Simulator
We continue to face one of our toughest challenges. We want to continue to provide essential services that residents rely on, while managing our budget and raising income to do that.
With little to no financial support from central government, we rely heavily on council tax and business rates to fund the services we provide. If we make cuts to keep council tax ‘lower’, these will have an impact upon services we provide across the county.
Find out more about our current budget and council tax.
Which is why we are asking you to have a go at balancing Dorset Council’s budget. Which services do you think we should protect? Which services do you think we could reduce, or stop all together? Our budget simulator is easy to use. It allows you to reduce or increase spending across council services and see the consequences of your choices. We also want you to give us your comments and ideas. This will help us understand what is important to you when we make our budget proposals this year.
Finally, we are asking you to answer an important question on council tax:
Would you be willing to pay more council tax to protect services for vulnerable children and adults?
This is YOUR opportunity to tell us how you would allocate the budget and experience for yourself the challenges the council faces. Please start your budget and use the services in the left-hand menu to find your savings.
