With the help of free online courses you can build your confidence in mental health to help start conversations, listen and reflect and how to signpost to support services.

 

Level 1: Conversations in the community 

If you are looking to understand how to support others with their mental health, this free course by Mind could help. 

This self-guided 90-minutes course is for anyone wanting to build their knowledge in what mental health issues can look like and how you can offer support, knowing what to say to start a conversation, to listen, reflect, and how to support them in engaging with different support services, whilst maintaining self-care. Level 1: Making Every Contact Count

If you work in healthcare, local authority or the third sector and are in a position to engage individuals in talking about their health and wellbeing, this free online course by NHS England could help you. 

This course will develop your understanding of public health and the factors that impact on a person’s health and wellbeing to be able to ask questions and listen effectively. Find out more on what this course involves.

 

Level 2: Mental Health First Aid Training

Courses by Mental Health First Aid England teach you how to identify, understand and help someone who many be experiencing a mental health issue. These courses can also help you gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing by developing the skills and confidence to approach and support someone whilst keeping yourself safe.
