North Dorset comprises both very rural areas and medium-sized market towns. The locality has a number of characteristics that support health and wellbeing including good quality natural environments and high levels of income. The age structure of the population is similar to that of Dorset overall. North Dorset has the lowest rate of emergency admissions in under 5s of any Dorset locality and is the only locality to have a rate which is lower than the England average.
