West Dorset locality covers a diverse population, including very rural communities, market towns and coastal communities.  The locality benefits from characteristics that have a positive impact on health and wellbeing including low levels of unemployment and levels of income deprivation lower than the England average. West Dorset has one of the highest populations aged 65 and over when compared with other localities in Dorset and England as a whole. In the area of Bridport North and Bradpole the proportion of people providing unpaid care work is significantly higher than the England average.
